Requirements for NYS REALTORS®
Education requirements for license renewal have changed. Real estate licensees whose licenses expire before July 1, 2021, must complete at least 22.5 hours of continuing education (CE) credit including three hours of fair housing and one hour of agency (two hours if you’re in your first license cycle). REALTORS® must also take an approved Code of Ethics course every three years. All licensees whose licenses expire on or after July 1, 2021, are required to take 22.5 hours of CE credit including three hours of fair housing, one hour of agency (two hours in the first license cycle), two and a half hours of ethical business practices (includes NAR Code of Ethics training) and one hour of recent legal matters (may include statutes, laws, regulations, rules, codes, DOS opinions and decisions, and court decisions). Brokers who were previously exempt from earning CE credit will no longer be exempt when they renew their licenses after July 1, 2021.
This course satisfies the Fair Housing requirement.

This Expert Instructor series will begin on September 18, 2020, and will be offered for Continuing Education Credit approved by the NY State Department of State as well as satisfy your Fair Housing requirement. This class will be offered virtually every third Friday of the month for the foreseeable future. All NY State Licensed Real Estate Salespersons can now ENJOY their required training as Fanny Montalvo is not only knowledgeable beyond compare but she shares a real-world experience with her students.

Fanny Montalvo is a Real Estate Broker and DOS approved Instructor. As a Broker of Record and Chief Compliance Officer, Fanny is able to instruct real estate professionals on the skills she is extremely knowledgeable of and versed in- Agency (Disclosure) Law, Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. As a Hispanic-American woman- she is both personally and professionally versed, aware, knowledgeable and passionate in teaching Fair Housing and Anti- Discrimination, Diversity, and Inclusion training of an industry and its complexities, laws, and the importance of real estate professionals adhering to the running of an ethical and compliant business. In her 15 years of licensure, Fanny has been featured or quoted in various real estate articles within The NY Times, Crain's, The Mann Report, Broker's Weekly, and The Real Deal Magazine. She is a former Executive Board Member of The Manhattan Association of Realtors® (MANAR), and it’s PAG (Presidential Advisory Group) on Cultural & Age Diversity, The Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors® (HGAR), The National Association of Realtors® (NAR), The New York State Association of Realtors® (NYSAR), and The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY).
